Welcome to Spirited Lens.

I'm Alyssa, a photographer on a lifelong journey to capture the fleeting beauty of the natural world. Through my lens, I seek to preserve moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed—a butterfly nearing the end of its brief life, a flower opening to the morning sun, or the vibrant colors of a once-in-a-lifetime sunset.

I believe beauty is inseparable from impermanence. Photography offers a rare opportunity to pause time, preserving fragments of life that remind us how extraordinary our world truly is. In a fast-moving society, we often forget to slow down, admire the landscapes around us, and appreciate the countless forms of life that share this planet with us. My goal is to inspire others to reconnect with that sense of wonder.

One of my favorite quotes comes from the film Princess Mononoke: "To see with eyes unclouded by hate." To me, this philosophy extends beyond just human conflict. We live in a time where empathy often feels scarce, and many people have become disconnected from the natural world around them. Wildlife is frequently viewed as a nuisance, a threat, or an inconvenience rather than as living beings sharing the same home we do. I believe empathy should extend beyond human beings.

​Another theme often overlooked, this film also reminds us, "The trees cry out as they die, but you cannot hear them." In many ways, photography is my attempt to listen. To slow down long enough to notice the stories unfolding around us every day—the wildlife we pass by, the landscapes we take for granted, and the countless expressions of life that exist beyond ourselves.

Photography has taught me to look closer. To observe before judging. To recognize that every animal, plant, and ecosystem has its own story, purpose, value within a much larger whole, independent of its "usefulness" to us. Through my work, I hope to encourage others to see nature with greater curiosity and compassion—to move beyond fear, frustration, or indifference and instead appreciate the profound interconnectedness of life on Earth... to see the natural world not as something separate from us, but as something we belong to.

My photography journey began in childhood with disposable cameras and Polaroids, eventually evolving alongside the digital age. Years later, I found myself immersed in the photography industry, working as a photography assistant, modeling, and traveling throughout the United States and Europe while developing my craft.

​

Today, alongside my work as a licensed esthetician and business owner, I continue pursuing photography as both an artistic passion and a way of documenting the beauty that surrounds us. I primarily photograph wildlife, animals, nature, landscapes, and lifestyle subjects, with a preference for natural light and authentic storytelling. While I have experience photographing large-scale events, I find myself most drawn to intimate moments where genuine connection and emotion can naturally unfold.
